Aft fuselage skins & longerons

I’m still waiting for the replacement bulkheads and stiffeners. Parcelforce have them and have skinned me for an £11 handling fee to take £10 of VAT. I’m hoping Mrs May will set up a free trade deal with the Donald soon as our trade tariffs are punitive. Sometimes think it would be cheaper to fly back and forth to the States and build it out there! Parts should be here on Monday.

Today has all been about dimpling and using the reduced diameter dimple – thank you Steve. So far I have dimpled the bottom skin and all the other stiffeners along with the two reinforcement angles at the rear of the tail cone.

I then got on with my least favourite task of removing the backing plastic from the side skins. As I don’t have a lot of space, I need to protect as much as I can from scratches although I did remove the plastic completely from the bottom skin.

Next up is deburring these skins and then dimpling the 30 and 40 holes. I have decided not to use the flush screw option on the access hatches as I think roundhead screws will hold the hatches closer to the skin. They are under the tailplane so not easy to see.
