Practice project started

I ordered the Vans practice project with the Empennage kit and have made a start.  Quite a bit of learning here with stiffeners requiring to be cut from angle material and the first tentative go with the snips.  Luckily had a visit from Neil, a local guy who is about to start a 9a build and had some good tips picked up from the LAA metalwork day.

Have been practicing with some scrap and also the Cleaveland Tools phone/tablet holder so back riveting wasn’t a complete surprise.

So, stiffeners are cut, match drilled, deburred, dimpled and started to be back riveted to the skins.  Just need an independent judge to see if I’m doing this right.
