When I say we, luckily Ian (RV6A builder and pilot) very kindly came over to help with some of the trickier riveting. It&#8217;s a lot easier and more fun with two!<\/p>\n<p>First job was finishing the Root Fairing Attachment angles.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-scaled.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1097\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-scaled.jpg 2560w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0845-1-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had already completed the necessary additions to the Seat Back Brace so it was time to attach it to the fuselage along with the gussets and intercostals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0846-1-scaled.jpg\" class=\"size-full\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\"><\/p>\n<p>There were a couple of tricky rivets inside the longeron although we managed to squeeze most of them. The tricky ones involved the small tungsten bucking bar and self-sacrifice!<\/p>\n<p>The Bulkhead Bar Assemblies are also reattached at this stage and the nuts torqued to the required value.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-scaled.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1106\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-scaled.jpg 2560w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.vansrv14.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_0847-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The bolts on the upper and lower drag fittings also require the nuts to be reinstalled and torqued. It was at this stage that I realised the lower AN6 bolts require a torque of around 21Nm.
